Round 20 Auto-Commentary

Nigel Richards (NZL) stays in the lead for the 14th consecutive round, 18-2 +2521. Dave Wiegand (USA) is 2 games behind at 16-4 +2002, on a 3-game winning streak, hovering at #2 for 3 rounds. Rex Ogbakpa (NGA) is 3 games behind the leader at 15-5 +1637, on a 5-game winning streak, #3 up from #4. Chinedu Okwelogu (NGA) is +658, #4 dropping from #3.

In Class B: Howard Rayner (ZAF) is the lead, 12-8 -47. Ashley Willenberg (ZAF) is 1 game behind at 11-9 -27, #18 sliding from #15. Raymond Gbaraba (NGA) is 2 games behind the leader at 10-10 -41, on a 7-game losing streak, #22 dropping from #20. Ralph Owusu (GHA) is -78, #23 sliding from #21. Fern Wheelwright (ZAF) is -415, #25 falling from #22.

High Win: Rex Ogbakpa (NGA) 536-240 vs. Nsikan Solomon Etim (NGA). Low Win: Gwen Rea (ZAF) 337-324 vs. Carol Parker (ZAF). High Loss: Ashley Willenberg (ZAF) 455-469 vs. Jesse Day (USA). Low Loss: Nsikan Solomon Etim (NGA) 240-536 vs. Rex Ogbakpa (NGA).

Nigel Richards (NZL) vs. David Eldar (AUS) at Board 1. Nigel opens with H7 BETEEMs (76), David replies 12F UNMIXING (86), Nigel comes back with 9A DOWNBEAT (69). Eldar then loses a lot of equity to the grey areas of his word knowledge (Does DOWNBEAT take an -S? What part of speech is HURLY?), manages to draw a total of eight Os, bingoes once more with PYRANOSE to Nigel's DECIARE, and also scores well off the board with EMOJI through J and CALQUE through C and Q, but ultimately loses by more than 100 points.
