We thank Mario Seychell (MLT) for filling in for Josephine Mayo (MLT) on the first two days of our event, when she was unable to play due to work commitments. They trade places now, and Mayo enters the event with a 0-0 +0 record. She then wins a squeaker 348-335 vs. Mary Doyle (IRL) and advances to 1-0 +13, ahead of Marion Loewenstein (ISR). At the top of the field, the top three win, so it is still Howard Warner (NZL) 15-1 +2015 one game ahead of Theresa Brousson (MLT) 14-2 brousson and Helen Gipson (Sco) +1935. John Barker (AUS) loses 433-511 to Gipson at Board 1, and falls to three games behind Gipson, behind the two 12-4s (Cecil Muscat (MLT) and Nicky Huitson (Eng)) and the lead 11-5 (Nicky Vella-Laurenti (MLT)). Seen on a challenge slip: VAVA*. I was sure that it was no good, not least because I have a Thai friend named Vava, which is pronounced WAWA, which *is* an acceptable word. Round 16 Auto-CommentaryHigh Win: Theresa Brousson (MLT) 535-274 vs. Pauline Cilia (MLT). Low Win: Josephine Mayo (MLT) 348-335 vs. Mary Doyle (IRL).
