Last week's Malta International Scrabble Open was full of one-point games; we've just had our first one here at the EOSC, with Helen Gipson (Sco) beating Brid Ni Bhriain (IRL) 376-375 at Board 1. My working theory is that Helen is trying to make me regret not starting up the video streaming yet at Board 1, with close games, upsets and world records. Howard Warner (NZL) bets the Okey Okoro (NGA) bye this round, so he stays tied with Helen on wins, 11-1 +1231 to her +1639. Theresa Brousson (MLT), John Barker (AUS) and Nicky Huitson (Eng) win and stay one, one and two games behind going into the tea break. Henry Yeo points out that the data listed under Standings, compiled on our webserver and not on the TSH pairing machine, does not take into account the spread adjustments that resulted from Okoro's withdrawal. So if you'd like to see how players would have been doing without the changes, that's where to look. Round 12 Auto-CommentaryHigh Win: Mihai Pantis (ROM) 526-326 vs. Mary Doyle (IRL). Low Win: Daniel Milton (USA) 338-325 vs. Mario Seychell (MLT). High Loss: Janet Bonham (Eng) 412-425 vs. Nicky Vella-Laurenti (MLT). Low Loss: Ebikeme Adowei (NGA) 241-506 vs. Nicky Huitson (Eng). |
