Division A Round 13 Auto-Commentary

High Win: Helen Gipson (Sco) 533-298 vs. Jayne Mackenzie (NIr). Low Win: Bob Violett (Eng) 354-306 vs. Jojo Delia (MLT). High Loss: Rafal Dominiczak (POL) 421-511 vs. David Delicata (MLT). Low Loss: Albert Zammit (MLT) 283-515 vs. Vincent Boyle (Sco).

Division B Round 13 Auto-Commentary

There were some remarkably close games in both divisions this round. Len Edwards (Eng) and Naomi Landau (ISR) tied 412-412, Teresa Lyes (Eng) and Maureen Hoch (ISR) tied 353-353, and at Board 1, Alfred Xuereb (MLT) and Gail Morris (ISR) tied 358-358, Allan Simmons (Sco) beat Cecil Muscat (MLT) by a single point (Cecil's second one-point loss of the event), 372-371, and Pauline Cilia (MLT) beat Mary Morgan (IRL) by two points.

Mario Saliba's (MLT) 379-343 win over Chris Lipe (USA) was the greatest rating upset (1975-1298 = 677).

Open Division

Allan's one-point win lets him keep his undefeated record, advancing to 13-0 +1643. Simon Gillam (Sco) stays three games behind with a 498-360 win over Nicky Vella-Laurenti (MLT). Helen Gipson (Sco) is alone on 9-4 after a 533-298 blowout against Jayne Mackenzie (NIr). Howard Warner (NZL) is alone on 8½-4½, with a 425-405 win against Graham Bonham (Eng).

Second Division

Mario Seychell (MLT) beats Gila Blits (ISR) 398-347 and is 10-3 +320, keeping the lead for a second round. Sammy Mangion (MLT) and Josephine Mayo (MLT) trail at 9-4 +537 and +78.
