SCTLC 2013 Commentary: Round 5
We tried streaming Board 1 using the RFID board, assisted by Craig Beevers supplying out-of-band information via Facebook, but we had a few serious technical issues. Thank you to all who helped point them out; we're addressing them during Round 6 and hope to have the board back online in Round 7. I do have a complete .gcg file of the game, which I will post when time permits.
At Board 1, Tony Sim (SGP) had a 519-272 blowout against Andrew Golding (CAN), drawing and bingoing with both blanks: ERGaTIVE and DOTIEsT/ERGaTIVEs (+5 for the challenge on the nine). Ray Tate (Sco) also lost, 439-462 to Piotr Andronowski (CAN), so at the end of the round we have eight players on 4-1, led by Sim +658, Andronowski +449, then Sammy Okosagah (USA) +403, Jesse Matthews (CAN) +353, Golding +187, Tate +182, Rick Fawns (NOR) +162 and Tim Adamson (USA) +7. (Adamson has won three of his games with single-digit spreads: 5, 6 and 9.)
Scotland, the United States and Canada each have two players in the money right now in the top eight; Singapore and Norway each have one.
