Welcome to the 12th annual Malta International Scrabble Open Early Bird, which has drawn 44 players from 15 countries on 5 continents. This is the first of three competitive events that run from today, April 26th, 2019, through May 2nd.
I'm happy to see many old friends here, and even happier this year to introduce them to my wife Kristen, who is making her MISO debut. Kristen offered to be the alternate player today, but a last-minute cancellation left us even without her, so she is off to spend the day sightseeing; she will be competing in the Late Bird.
